Dr. Sketchy's

Last thursday me and two of my friends went to Dr. Sketchy's for some life drawing. Had lots of fun! There weren't too many people who attended, but we kinda enjoyed it more cause we were free to move around the model to look for different angles on their poses. And it kinda felt like they had event just for us. Haha.

Warm Ups:
During the first few poses, it showed that the model was still very uncomfortable, so we had to edit her poses a little to sell them a bit more clearly.

this one had too many corrections so i redrew it on the left side.

But then after a while she got to give a lot of really good poses. And we also got to warm up with the 2 earlier minute poses, so the 5's and 10's felt a lot longer.

These are the 5's i think. It's the same pose, I just went around the model to see the angle from the back.

This is the very last pose for the night, a 15 or 20 minute pose i think? Something like that. Haha. The wax from the coloured pencil kept repelling the ink from the ballpoint, so it was a little irritating. But then i kinda like how the pink on top of the ballpoint ink looks purple-ish.

And this one on the bottom with the orange pencil was done by my awesome awesome friend, Carin, who i know is gonna be really big in the future, so i asked for her autograph so that i have something for her to remember me by when she's famous.

The end of the Dr. Sketchy's post!

The stuff here below are just some figure drawings from a few days before that.

bye!

More Fancy Sketchbook Sketches

So I think i've been drawing consistently everyday, if i'm not mistaken, more or less, on my nice new notebook this week. Here are some of them.

Drawings while watching t.v. The guy on the left was probably semi-inspired by a UFC fighter named Dan Hardy (whom i do not like, but i think has a nice mohawk.) The other guy's just a doodle.

An interesting street/alley from a manila trip with two of my photographer friends.

The old man sitting in front of me in church

A woman's face..

...some tree studies, and the ever present female figure drawings. til soon!

Sketches From Yesterday

I hung out at a coffee shop with a couple of friends yesterday..

And watched the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 2) World Premiere live stream online when I got home! The event was glorious! I was chatting with friends the whole time and talking about every single person who arrives on the red carpet and nerding out and getting all emotional with their thank you speeches and such. Haha. It's okay, Harry Potter is probably the only thing i'd actually be proud to publicly nerd out to.

The interviewer man

I can't believe this is the last movie that's ever gonna come out ='(

New Sketchbook!

Today we had an Art Supplies Sale in school and it turned out pretty good. They had loads of stuff like paints and brushes and pens and notebooks and loads of other cool stuff on sale. I bought a really nice leather bound sketchbook (which i think i'm gonna start carrying around with me everywhere i go from now on cause it looks so nice) and this is the very first sketch i did on it!

On Rough Drawings & Girl's Makeup

A thought and a drawing before going to sleep

So i kinda figured that my taste in art probably has to do with my taste in.. well people in general, not just women. I think more more simple a person is, the better. I like them real and unedited. No egos or titles. Or expensive clothes in high heels. And definitely without makeup. I don't think i'm ever gonna get the concept of girls always having to wear make up all the time.

I like to go for the quick readable gesture, or the overall aura, instead of fancy renders and over corrections that (to me) just ruin a drawing, just like how makeup almost always ruins a girl's prettynesness.. I believe there's always a certain kind of beauty and sophistication about the simple but non-pretentious, effortless looking stuff.
