Mountain Houses

We're having a visual development masterclass with Armand Serrano
and we just finished day one. I'm learning so much it's like my eyes are being opened to the simple, most basic things that i just never realised before. I also never figured out how to paint backgrounds until today.

I practiced painting like this when i got home.

I know it's probably not all that technically perfect, but I'm happy with it.

(Edit: This is the other one i did)

I'm not sure how i learned how to do this overnight on my own.

I really, really don't.

McGonagall

Not a lot of people know i'm a potterhead, but i am.

It's so nice to bring back so much memories from the books & films every once in a while. This is for Wizarding Wednesday. It's a tumblr thing but then i don't really post on my tumblr.

Inktober

I know i'm a little late! It's already almost halfway through October
and I'm only posting my first sketch now.

I usually use flat tip calligraphy markers for ink drawings like this. I use the sharp corner of the tip for the lines and the flat side for filling out, so i don't have
to keep switching pens.

Leftover Painting

So on Saturday mornings I teach kids some drawing & painting at a friend's place (If you're from the Alabang area and you wanna join us just let me know!)

After every session they usually leave a lot of paint on their palettes. Sometimes I try to save the leftovers and make a really quick painting before we clean up.

This one was from last week.

Also, it was my birthday yesterday and they gave me a little surprise sort-of party. Awww right..

Early Early College Stuff

I found some old college pictures hidden somewhere in my computer.

These were from our freehand drawing class, the first ever subject that involved drawing (after you're done with all the boring minor subjects) These drawings were done something like a year or two years before this blog even existed, and I've almost forgotten these drawings existed, so I'm happy I found these photos again.

For some reason, freshman year already feels like a lifetime ago.

Sometimes I really miss art school.

For this class we had to do big pieces like this every week.

They were about this big.

And some were bigger.

Which was fun though, I absolutely enjoyed doing them.

This was the last weird-ish one for finals.

Aaaand my paperbag lunchbox that looks entirely different from the set. Haha.

(Check out the graffiti throwup sticker on my notebook too)

Hope to be posting new stuff soon!

I'm currently busy illustrating a children's book and
I hope I get to finish it really, really soon.

ttfn (:

Full Figured

Got me some down time.

I finally found some more full figured models online, I've been trying to search for good ones for a while cause I felt like the perfect skinny figures were starting to get repetitive. Also, the more full-figured models require a bit more understanding of  anatomy, mass, and gravity, especially if you're gonna push the pose and stylise the drawing a little further.

Yeah I'm super happy with this one.

Roots

I used to only draw like this back in highschool/early college. (As far as style is concerned. I was a big fan of the Marvel/Dc comics before moving on to the animation/character design influences, so you can see how I like to change up the look/style of my drawings every time my mood changes) I'm not sure why I don't really like drawing like this anymore.

Also, I just went to the Glasshouse Graphics Comics workshop so it made me want to draw like this again.

Just tried it again to see if I still got it.

Camping 2013

This is I think my first post on this blog that doesn't have anything drawn or painted. I just decided to put pictures here too, for a change, to make things more interesting and a little more personal. Even I'm starting to get sick of only seeing my drawings here all the time. And besides, photography is an art too anyway.

This was from a recent camping trip with cousins.

Don't worry, I won't be ditching the drawings!
